The position is responsible for managing the application of sound engineering principles in the review and approval of plans and specifications related to mining procedures, methods, structures, equipment and products, and for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in accordance with the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Act. Reporting to the Director of Workplace Health and Safety, the Manager of Mine Safety has a broad range of responsibilities, providing leadership and direction, and is accountable for identifying and correcting health and safety non-compliance at all mines, concentrators, and mine exploration projects in the Yukon.
